024 - Thomas Anthony Filion, 84, of Saratoga Springs, died on March 25, 2025. He started his career in Beekmantown Central Schools in Plattsburg, NY where he taught in and served as head of the Industrial Arts Department. He retired from Saratoga-Warren BOCES in 1995 after 33 years of service teaching and being a guidance counselor.

023 - Margaret M. Ethier, 84, of Latham, passed away April 2, 2025. She taught at several different schools in Watervliet, Cohoes, and Troy over the years. In 1980, she began employment as a supervisor at the NYS Dept of Health & Human Services and worked there until her retirement in 2003.

022 - Harry Lomasney, 84, of Saratoga springs, passed away on March 20, 2025. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Harry was a coach and history teacher at Greenwich High School for more than 20 years and later coached at Skidmore College and Saratoga Central Catholic.

021 - Mary Joan (nee Nertney) Van Kampen, 95, of Watervliet, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025. Mary Joan taught in Cohoes and Syracuse. After raising her family, she served as the number one substitute teacher in the North Colonie elementary school system until her permanent retirement in 1992.

020 - Kathleen A. Weatherwax, 81, of Hoosick Falls, passed away on March 12, 2025. She retired as a teacher from the Cherry Plains School District which is now the Berlin Central School District, located in eastern Rensselaer County.

018 - Elizabeth Goodman, 84, of Loudonville, died March 1, 2025. Beth spent over 40 years teaching kindergarten in South Colonie at several schools, including West Albany and the new Roessleville.

017 - Barbara A. Bishop, 85, passed away March 3, 2025. She had a long-standing career with Capital Region B.O.C.E.S, where she worked for nearly three decades until her retirement in 2000. She was honored with the Education Assistant Professional Award for the State of New York, and was an active member of the NYS United Teachers Union.

016 - Maud "Hope" Davis, 91, of Schaghticoke, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. Hope retired from the Brittonkill Central School District in Brunswick, where she had been a teacher for 24 years. She taught fourth and & fifth grades at Tamarac Elementary School.

015 - Catharine Jennings Kilby, 70, of Schaghticoke, passed on February 28, 2025. Cathy's career was focused on teaching Math, first at Hudson Valley Community College, and then later at several regional central schools, including Hoosick Falls, Cambridge, and Granville.

014 - Margaret Lofthouse, 85, originally from Corinth, NY, and lately of Venice, FL, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025. She had a distinguished 25+ year career as a third-grade teacher at Corinth Central School.

013 - Felix "Phil" Wielewinski, 95, of Colonie, bravely crossed the River Jordan, trumpet in hand, on February 22, 2025. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as the camp bugler, "sleeping in" by mistake only once. He shaped many young minds in South Colonie Schools, where he was a loved and respected music teacher.

012 - Muriel H. Falkey, 103, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025. Muriel taught Business Law, Advanced Accounting, and Typing at Greenville Central School, retiring in 1976.

010 - David C. Pause, 85, of Ballston Lake, entered into eternal life on Monday, February 17, 2025. He had been a high school teacher in the Schenectady City School System.

009 - Patricia "Pat" A. Stone, 84, of Clifton Park, passed away February 9, 2025. Pat had been an educator for the Shenendehowa Central School District for over 40 years, where she worked as a first-grade teacher, reading teacher, administrator, and in Staff Development, teaching, training and coaching the school's curriculum to other teachers.

008 - Jean F. Michaniw, 75, of Schenectady, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025. For 36 years, she imparted her love of music to the young minds at Ichabod Crane Primary School. Even after her retirement, Jean continued to inspire others by teaching music at St. Kateri Tekakwitha for three more years.

007 - Mary Patrick Milford, 75, of Halfmoon, formerly of Clifton Park and Glenville, died Thursday, February 20, 2025. In 1972, Mary's first full-time teaching position was in a newly integrated school system in Georgia. Mary retired from Schenectady City School District, where she had been a Middle School and High School reading teacher, then a literacy coach for over 35 years.

006 - Jeanne Capwell Harris, 93, a decades-long resident of Colonie, N.Y., and more recently of Lakewood, Colo., passed away February 1, 2025. She began teaching in Troy, N.Y., before settling in South Colonie in 1959, where she raised her family and taught reading before spending 30 years shaping young minds at Forest Park Elementary School.

005 - Patrick B. Flynn, 84, of Albany died on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Pat juggled his first teaching job at Hackett Middle School and his young family, while earning a master's in Special Education at The College of Saint Rose. He taught in the Guilderland School District and later for BOCES.

002 - Dolores M. Ruscitto, 93, of Albany, passed away January 7, 2025. She taught fourth grade at Citizen Edmond Genet School (East Greenbush Central School District) her entire career, retiring in 1996.

001 - Stephen Benedict Lynch, 76, of Latham, passed away January 3, 2025. Stephen pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor's degree from S.U.N.Y. Oneonta, a Master's degree from The College of Saint Rose, and an Advanced Certificate from S.U.N.Y. Albany. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1973.
