29 - On January 13, 2024, John Austin Cocca, 86, of Venice, Fla., passed away. He was born on December 12, 1937 and grew up in Gowanda, NY. John resided in Clifton Park, NY, where he raised his family and had a 34-year career with the South Colonie School District. John started his career as a history teacher and then became an administrator. He was the principal of Veeder Elementary School when he retired in 1993.

28 - Carmella M. Zadrozny, 99, of Ballston Lake, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024. She was born on April 19, 1924, in Schenectady and was educated in the Schenectady School System. She worked at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady as a physical therapy aide for twenty years until retiring at the age of 72. Mrs. Zadrozny was a well-known and beloved crossing guard and cafeteria aide at Burnt Hills - Ballston Lake Central Schools.

27 - Marion M. Capasso, 99, passed away in her home in Ballston Spa on January 8, 2024. Marion graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1942 and was employed by General Electric as a Librarian. She was later hired by Galway Central Schools where she taught 3rd and 4th grades, ultimately becoming the School's Reading Specialist after obtaining her Masters degree. She retired after 27 years of service.

26 - Mary Elizabeth Vosburgh-Snyder, 73, of Delmar, passed away January 20, 2024. She was born in Catskill, NY, on June 21, 1950. Mary taught high school English in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District for 25 years, where she was admired and respected by both the students and the staff.

25 - Deborah Leto, 65, of Waterford, NY, passed away January 16, 2024. Debbie was born in 1958, in Rome, NY. She devoted over 30 years of her career as a speech pathologist at Arongen Elementary School in the Shenendehowa School District.

24 - Arlene Atwood, 83, of Glenville, NY, passed away on January 16, 2024. Arlene was born in Salem, MA, attended a few years of high school in Germany as an army brat, and then graduated from high school in Salem. She held numerous jobs over the years including school bus driver, bookkeeper, and then business owner. She ran New England Fudge Company with her husband.

23 - Theodore "Ted" Feinberg passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 78, in Sacramento, Calif. He was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. After private practice and school psychology at North Colonie Schools for over 30 years, Dr. Feinberg left the Capital District to become the Assistant Executive Director of the National Association of School Psychologists, from 2000 until his retirement in 2008.

22 - Marilyn Jean Robinson Wiegert, of Cohoes, passed January 14, 2024. Marilyn was born on October 16, 1943, in Troy. Marilyn grew up in South Troy and graduated from Troy High School. She was employed for much of her adult life in the payroll unit of the Office of State Comptroller, taking a break during her children's younger years, and retiring in 2002. When her children were in elementary school she worked at the Forts Ferry (North Colonie) and Dorothy Nolan (Saratoga) Schools.

21 - Jennie Klementowski Lesniewski, 96, of the Town of Perth, was born on January 15, 1927 and died on January 13, 2024. Jennie was a 1944 graduate of Ballston Spa High School. She started her secretarial career at Mohasco Corp. and continued with secretarial positions at the Naval Depot in Scotia, the unemployment Office in Gloversville, SUNY Albany, the Joseph Henry Elementary School in Galway and retired from the position of Secretary to the Superintendent of Galway Central School.

20 - Margaret Tiberio DeBiase, 91, of Schenectady, entered into the Arms of her Lord on Monday, January 15, 2024. Margaret was born in Schenectady and was a 1949 graduate of the former Nott Terrace High School. She was first employed at the General Electric Company. She began her secretarial career with the Schenectady School District in 1969, and retired after many years of dedicated service.

19 - Eugene FitzPatrick, 91, of Delmar, N.Y., passed away January 9, 2024. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Gene worked in the Bethlehem Central School District for over 32 years as a physical education teacher, coach and guidance counselor. After retiring from BCHS he continued his love of sports through officiating at both the high school and college levels. In 2012, he was initiated into the National College Football Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Official Award winner.

17 - Dan Marburger, 56, of Perry, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Principal Dan Marburger was critically wounded during the January 4 attack by a 17-year-old shooter at Perry High School. A student was killed and several others were injured during the shooting. Iowa Governor Reynolds said, "Dan courageously put himself in harm's way to protect his students, and ultimately gave his own life to save them He will forever be remembered for his selfless and heroic actions."

16 - Wendy Anne Tarricone, 60, of Troy, died January 11, 2024. She was a graduate in the field of education and was a teacher at Tamarac Elementary School for 30 years. As a child, Wendy moved around New York State quite a bit, but she always considered herself a "North Country girl" due to the considerable time spent in Potsdam and Colton.

She was born in Jamestown, NY on September 26, 1963 and was a graduate of Pine Valley Central School, Class of 1981. She was currently a Principal at Fredonia Middle School, Fredonia, NY, and started as a Science Teacher at Pine Valley Central School.

14 - Lillian P. Gorman, 99, of Rotterdam passed away January 10, 2024. Lillian was born Memorial Day, 1924 in Charlton, NY and at age 10 she moved into the home her father and brothers built in Rotterdam. She was there when she passed 89 years later. Lillian was proud to have been the secretary to numerous Superintendents of the Schalmont Central School District for over 29 years.

13 - Mary Ann Thrane, 65, of Leeds, MA, passed away January 7, 2024. Mary Ann was born in Troy, NY and grew up in Mechanicville, NY. In 1985, she moved to Western Massachusetts where she found a love for working with children with special needs. She ultimately went back to school and received her degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked in the Holyoke Public School System until her retirement in 2022.

12 - Joseph P. Pallante, 93, of Schenectady, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Joe was born in Schenectady and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for the Schenectady City School District as a maintenance supervisor. He retired in 1993, after over 30 years of service. The majority of his career was at the former Mont Pleasant High School.

11 - Mary Theresa "Terri" Pennisi, 74, of Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Born in Albany, she was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute in Albany, class of 1966. Terri taught at Catholic Central High School for four years, where she was instrumental in starting the girls' softball and basketball teams, which she also coached. She retired from Hudson Valley Community College as a professor of Business Administration, after 33 years.

10 - Salvatore Joseph Casano, 81, of Rexford, passed away January 7, 2024. Salvatore taught chemistry in the Massapequa Union Free School District, where he worked for over thirty years, as well as at Farmingdale State College. After moving to the Capital Region, he was a Chemistry Instructor at the Albany College of Pharmacy until his retirement.

9 - Gloria Jean Dury, 76, passed away Tuesday Morning, January 2, 2024. Gloria was born in Herkimer and was a life-long resident of East Herkimer, graduating from Herkimer High School with the class of 1965. Gloria was a kindergarten teacher in the Ilion School System, until her retirement from Remington Elementary School in 2003. Gloria dedicated her life to teaching.

8 - Roger Louis Charbonneau, 88, of Schaghticoke, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in Waterford, Roger graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After returning home from the military, he taught in Green Island and then at Cohoes Middle School.

7 - Alice Ann (Whittemore) Damp, 91, formerly of Warrensburg, N.Y., passed away on January 6, 2024. She was born in 1932, in Glens Falls and graduated from Warrensburg Central School. In addition to teaching, reading, and writing for 24 years in the Title One program at Warrensburg Central School, Alice spent a lifetime of volunteering while raising a family.

6 - Patricia "Pat" Porter, 81, of Glens Falls, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Pat was born November 28, 1942 in Glens Falls. After many dedicated years as an elementary school teacher, Mrs. Porter retired from Glens Falls School District.

5 - Vivian Susan Brown, 85, of Albany, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in Hartford, Conn., she worked as a teacher's assistant in the Mamaroneck School District in lower Westchester County, a job she cherished for many years until her retirement.

4 - Anna Marie (Tremblay) Baluha, 64, of Queensbury, passed away on January 4, 2024. Anna was a '77 graduate of South Glens Falls. Her career started as a Florist and she spent the last six years at her true calling as a teacher assistant for the Southern Adirondack Education Center in the Exceptional Learners Division. Anna impacted the lives of countless students.

3 - Sharon L. Burridge, 71, of Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Born, raised and educated in Ossining, Sharon had resided in the Capital District for 38 years. Sharon was retired from HVCC, after 28 years, where she was an assistant registrar.

2 - On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Clara Lawyer, 95, of Glenville, passed away. Born in Alplaus, NY, she was raised in Rotterdam Junction, where she graduated from Woestina High School. After being a homemaker for many years, she worked for over 10 years for J.M. Fields and then for the Scotia-Glenville School Cafeteria from October 1977 through February 1992.

1 - Donald Robert Cohen, 84, of Slingerlands, NY, died on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Donald was born in Albany, NY and was a graduate of Albany High School. Dr. Cohen taught math at Guilderland Middle School as well as Guilderland High School. He retired in 1995 from SUNY Cobleskill where he taught for 35 years.
